Mylapore Indian Restaurant, Folsom CA
The name Mylapore brings a surge of pleasant memories to many of us. Mylapore is synonymous with the famous Kapaleeshwarar temple, Rangoli festivals, Music Clubs, Raasi Silks, Sukra Jewelry (most recently) and great inexpensive eateries serving mouth watering food. We are also reminded of [+]the expansive vegetable market near the Mylapore tank and The Mylapore Club which till date is the only vegetarian club in Chennai that refuses to serve alcohol unlike its counterparts Gymkhana Club and Cosmopolitan Club.
Mylapore is a South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant where the emphasis is on freshness and quality. Authentic South Indian cuisine and a casual atmosphere come together at Mylapore. Spiced to tantalize and priced just right, Mylapore is the perfect place for a casual affordable meal, be it a work day or a weekend get together. Lighter, occasionally spicier, and more varied in flavors than the cuisines of other parts of India, we serve over 25 varieties of dosas and Uthapams. We also serve traditional South Indian Thali food the contents of which change everyday depending on what is available fresh in our local Farmer's Market.
What we Are, and What we Do:

Thai Paradise
- (East Bidwell)
- Folsom CA -
Jarunee Fleming, chef and owner of Thai Paradise Restaurant, comes from a family of special chefs for the Royal Palace of Thailand. She studied under her uncle who was the head chef of the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok Thailand , one of the most famous and prestigious hotels in the [+]world.
She brings to Thai Paradise her secret family recipes that have been handed down for centuries. For the last 12 years she has delighted thousands in Northern California with the best Thai Cuisine.
Her style of cooking is unique as she borrows from all regions of Thailand. Her basic family recipes draw on the Northeast of Thailand where she is from, but her special sauces and curries have an exotic Bangkok flavor from the Royal Thai Cuisine. She cooks from memory as her recipes are all in her head. Her real secret though, is that she loves to cook and puts love into every dish she makes.
What makes Jarunee's Thai Food so special is that it is delicious but it is also very fresh and healthy. She puts no MSG in her food and uses very little oil. It is a mixture of flavors; sweet, sour and spicy, of all the foods of the world, Thai Food is one of the most nourishing and beneficial for the body because it is full of antioxidants. Turmeric, ginger, galangal, garlic, basil and Thai chilies are just some of the antioxidant spices that that make up her Thai dishes. The reason of course for the spices originally was to preserve the food in the hot climate of Thailand before refrigeration, but it ends up giving her food both its delicious taste and good nutrition.

Mezcal Taqueria a Mexican Restaurant in Sacramento - Natomas
Our family gatherings and special moments have been always accompanied with amazing food. Our carne asadas (what we called having a BBQ) brings family and friends together and I wanted to create an environment where I could share moments like [+]this with others.
Fast forward to 2008; I was blessed with an opportunity to purchase a restaurant in South Natomas. My family and friends, business partners, and our cooks, we worked day and night getting Mezcal ready and creating recipes for our new menu. We were all exhausted, but excited to share our family and new recipes with everyone. I wanted to create a space where everyone can feel like a guest in my home.
We opened our doors on March 9th in 2009 and we have been blessed by all of the community support and patronage.

Our Food
Mexican food and its techniques are rich in history with influences from the Mayans, the Aztecs, and other Pre-Hispanic cultures. Later on the Spanish and other Europeans brought new crops, stock, and influences. Nowadays Mexican food is diverse and ever evolving. Each state and region have their own techniques and flavors. Here at Mezcal Grill we offer dishes that offer a little bit of everything from all 32 states. For example we bring you carnitas just like our family has been doing them in the state of Michoacan; techniques from the states of Jalisco and Guanajuato, and flavors from the states of Veracruz and Sinaloa. And of course let's not forget about our Tex-Mex and Californian influences.

Located along a well-loved strip of J Street between 36th and 37th streets, Juno's is a tiny but popular local go-to for delicious sandwiches, salads, and entrees served in a welcoming and down-to-earth neighborhood setting. Soak in a beautiful East [+]Sac afternoon at one of our sidewalk tables, grab an indoor table, or take it to go. We hope you'll visit us soon!
About Our Sourdough
Juno's bread is made from a wild starter, using an ancient practice of naturally leavening locally milled flour, water and salt through a long process of fermentation. Every morning I inspect the leaven and mix a highly hydrated dough. Weather and intuition dictate the length of the bulk fermentation and bench rise through a series of turns. The final shaping and a long cool overnight proof result in a rustic loaf speckled with wheat and complex flavors from three simple ingredients.

Lotus 8 - Asian Cuisine, Folsom CA
Lotus
The lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. At night the flower closes and sinks underwater, at dawn it rises and opens again. Untouched by the impurity, lotus signifies the purity of [+]heart and mind and its flower represents long life, health, honor and good luck. Traditionally, the lotus flower is often symbolized with 8 petals.
8
The number Eight is an important number in many cultures and religions.
In China, 8 is considered a lucky number because it pronounced similarly to the word “prosperity†(發; fÄ). The number Eight (å…« hachi) is also considered a lucky number in Japanese culture, but the reason is different from that in Chinese culture. 8 gives an idea of growing prosperously, because the character (å…«) broadens gradually.
In Buddhist tradition, the number Eight means completion. In Taoism, Bagua, an ancient symbol with 8 sides, represents the forces in the phenomenal world. The Egyptians believe that 8 is the number of balance and equilibrium. In Hebrew history, 8 is perfect intelligence. In Hinduism, 8 is the number of wealth and abundance. Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish holiday that starts on the 25th day of Kislev.
Lotus meets 8
Stories and facts about Lotus and the number Eight can go on and on and on ……
At Lotus 8 , we are creating our own story. A new culinary story. We named our restaurant by combining a beautiful flower and a lucky number. With this same philosophy, our kitchen chefs created their own interpretation of modern Chinese Cuisine. By using both traditional and new cooking techniques and experimenting with various ingredients from around the world, our innovative approach brings a perfect harmony to all of our dishes, and most importantly still maintains the true authenticity of traditional Chinese flavors.

Mr. Pickle's Sandwich Shop - Natomas, Sacramento CA 95834
It all started in 1975 at King Plaza Deli in Daly City, California. King Plaza was a regular hang out for Frank and his friends. Through his personality and sharp [+]wit, Frank was able to negotiate his first job, at the deli, cleaning tables and sweeping floors for $3.00 a day, at the age of eight. He continued to move up the ranks eventually working each and every position in the deli. Frank demonstrated his commitment to the job staying with King Plaza until he started high school at the age of fourteen.
In the meantime, Frank studied hard, knowing that one day he wanted to own his own deli. At sixteen, Frank began working in a local pizza parlor. He worked at a couple of local parlors over the next few years, increasing his experience in the food and service industry.
During these years of servicing the public Frank understood what people were looking for in a product and what they demanded in service. Frank opened his first Mr. Pickle’s in 1995, in San Mateo, California. Mr. Pickle’s took San Mateo by storm. Frank engaged the local high schools in naming sandwiches and participating in one of the first Mr. Pickle’s TV commercials. The local kids were devoted to Mr. Pickle’s and were considered “regulars.â€
The community loved Frank and his team. The line out the door proved it daily. After a couple of years, the demand to spread the ‘pickle love’ encouraged Frank to open up another shop. The reputation of Mr. Pickle’s spread like wildfire. Everyone loved Mr. Pickle’s and if they hadn’t tried it, they surely had heard about it.
To date, Frank has opened numerous shops and his reputation has remained the same in every community.
FRANK F. FAGUNDES

He took his convictions of hard work, discipline, and commitment and applied it to the first Mr. Pickle’s Sandwich Shop® opened in 1994. He formulated his system through his years of experiences as a customer, as an employee, and a manager, and then applied that system to his own shop, which catapulted the original shop to be the choice Sandwich spot in San Mateo County.
Queen Sheba, a charming Ethiopian restaurant on Broadway @17th.
ALL YOU CAN EAT LUNCH BUFFET
VEGETARIAN & VEGAN
Queen Sheba, a charming Ethiopian restaurant on Broadway @17th. Ethiopian food is more communal than almost any other type of ethnic food. The hallmark of Ethiopian cuisine [+]consists of sharing food on one giant plate and using enjera a spongy, sour, pliable flat bread to scoop up the various shared dishes. enjera is the common thread of almost every meal for Ethiopia’s middle and upper classes. Prepared much as it was 1,000 years ago, enjera is both an eating utensil and a palette for other foods to lie on. It lines the giant plate, soaking up the sauces and spices of the various dishes piled on top. The eating of this lining or “tablecloth†signifies that the meal is officially over, completing the communal Ethiopian dining experience. "Subscribers Choice Awards" Zion Taddese and her brother Eskinder opened Queen Sheba Restaurant on Howe Avenue in August of 2003 and have recently move their location to 1704 Broadway downtown Sacramento which is a larger restaurant that allows them to serve more customers. Together, the siblings offer friendly and attentive service along with spicy, flavorful dishes that follow the traditions of Ethiopian dining. You can enjoy, the famed honey wine, tej, which Ethiopians often make themselves, with a unique taste that complements the spices in the food. Combination plates on the menu, allow you to sample different dishes arranged symmetrically on a giant plate. Dishes such as Gomen, a dish of cooked spinach, collard greens, onions and garlic. Gomen may remind you of collards in soul-food cooking. Then experience, miser kik wot (wot meaning “stewâ€), a satisfying, mild-flavored dish made with lentils and spices. In the combination you will find two similar-tasting dishes, doro wot and gored gored. Doro wot is a popular dish with chicken leg and hard-boiled egg, served on a dark bed of simmered vegetables and spices. It has the color, consistency and heat of a fiery chili. Doro wot is of the chicken family, the gored gored has cubes of beef in a similar mixture, spiced in Ethiopian fashion, with berbere. Berbere, a mix of at least a dozen spices, including paprika, ginger, cardamom, hot chilies and turmeric, giving Ethiopian foods their distinct flavors.
In addition to these we have many Vegetarian and Vegan dishes for you to enjoy. You'll end your dining experience eating the large “tablecloth†Enjera, which is soaked with the sauces and spices of the various dishes. Finish with coffee, coffee drinking has a great significance in Ethiopia. Ceremonial in nature, beans are freshly roasted, ground and brewed and then served in tiny cups with sugar but no milk. Drink three cupfuls for a blessing. The flavors and customs of Ethiopian dining will provide you with the experience of food from the "cradle of civilization". [-] Categories:

Over Nine Decades of Excellence
The tradition and eating excellence at “The Espanol†began at 114 Jay Street in 1923. For several years “The Espanol†was a Basque boarding house owned by Castro Arrate and Victoriano Urratia. During those [+]first years, most of the tenants were sheephearders who hired out to local ranchers. It was during these years that Mamerto Fernandez became partner by buying out Mr. Urratia.
In the early 1930’s, Ancil Hoffman (the legendary Sacrament-an and manager of the late Max Baer) took over ownership of the building. Little by little outsiders were introduced to the boarders’ food and “The Espanol†became a favorite restaurant of many “Old Time†Sacrament-ans. [-] Categories:
